Don’t we all just love it when we take some time out to rest from the everyday hustle and bustle of trying to keep body and soul together? Public holidays in Nigeria are just about the same anywhere else in the world. They are great periods of rest, unwinding and even meeting with long lost friends and family members.

Public holidays are legal holidays put in place by law in which citizens are to stay off work or any regular, everyday activities in order to commemorate, celebrate anniversaries, celebrate festivals or even mark regard an important person in the one’s country, depending on their past feat and achievement and how they did their country proud.

Most holidays fall on specific days of the year. Some holidays are however tied to certain days of the week or certain months. In this post, we highlight the list of all public and non-public holidays in Nigeria as well as their dates, and the day they fall in.
