Salifu Joel Oyibo is a Nigerian educator and political figure currently serving as the deputy governor of Kogi State since 2024. He was chosen by Ahmed Usman Ododo as his running mate for the All Progressive Congress during the 2023 Kogi State gubernatorial election.
Career
Joel began his professional journey as a primary school teacher before transitioning into politics. He later assumed the role of Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers in Kogi State, and concurrently holds the position of treasurer within the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state.
On June 4, Salifu was officially named as the running mate for the APC Governorship candidate for the November 11 election. Serving as the deputy to Governorship candidate Usman Ododo, their ticket emerged victorious in the election, with Joel assuming the role of deputy governor alongside Usman Ododo as the winner.
